Installing fiber communications networks, SCADA, sensors and microprocessor-based protection upgrades on all of PSE&G’s 26 kV underground networks.

26kV Underground Network Monitoring Program

For Public Service Electric and Gas Co., we installed fiber communication networks, sensors, microprocessors and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) for an underground network monitoring program. It helps the utility track the health of its underground assets to quickly pinpoint and correct problems. The project included upgrading over 200 transformer vaults with the latest in fiber communication and SCADA technology.

The group conducted a detailed review of the stormwater pumping systems, wastewater collection systems and water supply/wastewater operations and maintenance. The team also facilitated multiple public meetings to help the Advisory Group develop a set of findings and recommendations for presentation to the Mayor of Louisville. The team performed many functions, including:

  • Analysis of operational and financial data.
  • Interviews with staff from all three entities to understand current business practices and operations.
  • Benchmarking of key utility metrics.
  • Financial analyses to evaluate potential strategic options.
